I still can…

I am so glad you are here on this journey of life with me. At 62 years old I have discovered… I still can! While that seems to be an overly open statement… we will focus our conversations on Christ, crafts, gardening, canning and of course furniture. I will offer you videos and reviews on everything from baking bread to gardening and canning to furniture refinishing. I will also submit short inspirational teachings on God’s Word.
To tell you a little bit about me, I will start by saying that I did not always have a relationship with God and my life as a young person reflected that. I became a single mom at 16 and was naturally ill-equipped. After years of trying on my own I sent 1 child to my mother and dad and 1 child to the father because they of course could do better. Eventually my decision led to shame, guilt and eventually addiction. After that I did what I wanted to with whom, where and when I wanted to. I had a job(s) and learned quickly how to rely on one but myself. Over the course of 20ish years, I got really good at surviving and living on pennies. God used my choices to guide my steps directly to Him when the time that I would hear Him was right. At the age of 33, I had an encounter with my savior that changed me. My life with my youngest child changed and after some time I met and married my husband and after the military we both began our walk together in ministry. After years of youth pastoring and Sunday school teaching, God called us in to fulltime ministry. So, we sold everything we owned, bought a truck and camper and traveled America sharing Jesus in campgrounds, grocery stores, truck stops, laundry rooms, and gas stations. We were obedient in revivals, and Sunday preaching no matter where we were. After 7 years God planted my husband and I in Trenton Tennessee where we are working hard to restore and rent spaces in the strip mall we just bought where my shop is located. I am now a small business owner whose income supports my ongoing ministry. I refinish furniture and call my shop Born Again Décor. When people ask me where I got the name I tell them “I rescue, restore and repurpose. This is what Jesus does when we let Him in to our hearts. I love how He makes old things new and the broken right again”. My shop is a place to meet people for weekly Bible studies and where words of love and encouragement can always be heard… and maybe sell a piece of furniture too. Anyway, that’s me in a very tiny nutshell.
As for the “I still can” comment, I have asked God to “do a new thing”. A thing that not only allows me to encourage but to help. Through all my life’s issues, I have learned one thing… “I CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens me” and sharing not only love and encouragement but His Word and wisdom makes all things possible.
I will be posting a new blog and a video of some kind weekly. It may be bread making, crafting or furniture related, planting a garden or canning or maybe just some pretty pictures. Rest assured, if I still can… you most certainly can as well!
See you soon.
